South Korean company MetalPrinting Ltd. unveiled its Gauss MT90 metal paste 3D printer at CES 2026. The compact system was named a Robotics Honoree and is aimed at users who want to manufacture metal components without lasers or metal powder. It is based on paste-based metal extrusion, which promises lower safety requirements and reduced energy consumption.

The Gauss MT90 works with a paste made of metal powder and binder, which is extruded layer by layer. MetalPrinting refers to the process as paste-based metal extrusion. Unlike laser-based processes or binder jetting, neither high-power lasers nor open powders are used during printing. This eliminates dust exposure and explosion risks, which play a central role in traditional metal AM processes. An integrated HEPA filter captures emissions during the printing process, while an LED status system displays the current operating status.

Operation is designed to be easy to learn. A quick-start mode takes care of the basic configuration, and an automatic exchange system for print beds allows for continuous operation. According to the manufacturer, the system can also be integrated into automated production processes. For consistent material feeding, the printer uses an AI-supported camera solution to monitor viscosity, supplemented by a precise dosing algorithm and controlled extrusion control.

MetalPrinting lists stainless steel, copper, titanium, and aluminum among the materials it uses. The target applications range from prototypes to functional components, such as heat sinks or electronic components. After printing, the component is sintered in an oven without additional cleaning. This produces a dense metal part that, according to the company, achieves the mechanical properties of solid material and can be further processed.

MetalPrinting has filed an international patent application for the PME process. By eliminating lasers and high process temperatures during printing, energy consumption and noise levels are reduced.
